  2. Mitch Easter carved his place in music history as a hip producer in the '80s, most notably for the early R.E.M. albums Murmur and Reckoning. These achievements, however, often overshadowed and distracted him from giving his full commitment to his own recording career with Let's Active, a band that, between and , released some of the finest Southern power pop/jangle pop of the decade.
  3. Recording was done at bandleader Mitch Easter 's home recording studio, Drive-In Studio in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The songs were presented as a demo to I.R.S., who quickly signed the band. The six songs were packaged as a mini album debut for the band and released in 12" vinyl EP format .

  6. A long overdue testament to the live genius of the mighty John Coltrane Quartet – captured at the legendary Half Note club in NYC – disc 1 recorded on a date in March and disc 2 on a date in early May of the same year! The set finds Coltrane plus McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Elvin Jones on the kit working in a far more adventurous guise than many of the 60s studio.
  7. Afoot is less unique, but is a more even collection, with 'Every Word Means No' and 'In Between' standing out. The two extra tracks on this double LP ('Grey Scales' and 'Two Yous') are OK but not essential.
  8. Mar 10,  · I worked in the record selling business back in the days of vinyl, all the way to around At the end, the quality of the vinyl was horrible. Many LP's were so poor in quality that you could hear other music, deeply buried, in between songs.
